At the moment I am working on a small group of sculptures that will sit together on a wooden base. I'm taking a break from the large piece of Ancaster Weatherbed limestone that I've been working on for what seems like years (might actually be years!). I'm really enjoying seeing the progress day to day.
The group are a piece of Carrara marble that my parents brought back from a holiday to Italy, a piece of granite I picked up from a kitchen worktop makers and a piece of ebony given to me by a friend. I've been inspired by some of the small groups of marble sculptures I've seen at the Hepworth in Wakefield.

In January 2017 I started work on a stone carving. This is a short video of splitting one large piece of Ancaster Weatherbed limestone into two smaller pieces using plugs and feathers .... and a lump hammer. |
